We are happy to make The Augustinian available to couples who wish to be married here. We encourage you to bring your own priest,
but that is NOT a condition of getting married here.
The suggested offering for use of the church by non-parishoners is €250. In particular circumstances this can be waived.
(Please note that this fee refers to the use of the church only. Usually, an appropriate stipend is offered to the officiating priest).
To book the Church please contact us through the Mass Office (091-562524) or at augustiniangalway@gmail.com
State Requirements:
- Complete the Marriage Notification process as soon as possible. The procedure is explained in Section 1 of the State’s website: "http://www.groireland.ie/getting_married.htm" . While a minimum notification of 3 months is required by law, it is advisable to make contact with a marriage Registrar well before that deadline. In order to complete the Notification Form, you will require the name of your priest solemniser.
Church Requirements:
- 3 months notice, to your local priest, of your intention to marry.
- Certificate of enrolment in or completion of a Pre-Marriage Course.
- Completion of Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form for each of you by one of your local clergy. To this meeting you bring a recently issued Baptism Cert and a Confirmation Cert. which is no older than 6 months. Your priest will forward your papers to the Augustinian on completion.
- If you are currently domiciled abroad, your marriage papers must be processed through the Chancellery Office of whatever Diocese you live in. They will forward them to the Chancellery in Galway, who in turn will forward them to the Augustinian.
Local Rules:
- Wedding Parties have the use of the church for two hours from the booked time of the wedding. Please consider those who are using the church after you.
- Any additional décor should respect the aesthetic of the church. Church decorators should leave the church as they found it. No Carpet, Confetti or Lanterns, please.
